In today's world of social media, it's never been so important to have images that convey what your business is about. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and your website.. the first impression people have of you will most likely be of your online imagery. A well branded business will have their clientele feel like they know you before they even reach out to contact you. So, what can you do? Yes, your phone does take pretty good pictures and you can slap an Instagram filter on it to spruce it up a bit, but if you want to go just the little extra mile I highly recommend doing a branding photo shoot. A well curated shoot will help you stand out from the crowd and establish who YOU are as a brand. The good news is branding photo shoots are fun and easy.
Before we begin I like to have a chat either at a coffee shop or via Facetime, and we mostly just talk about you! What are you about, what do you envision for your brand, what are your goals, who are your ideal clientele. It's important that I see what you envision for your brand so that we are on the same page.
On the day of the shoot have a couple different outfits ready. You'll be using these photos over a long period of time and you want to make sure you're giving a lot of variety for your audience. The more they see of you, the more they'll relate to you. Not a be in front of the camera person? Don't worry, not all the photos will be of you. What's your product? What are you're services? What do you use to get the job done? Or what inspires you? You might even find that doing a branding shoot forces you to take the time and really narrow in on 'who you are as a brand'.
Remember imagery is powerful, and with these social media tools being as popular as they are might as well take advantage!
Here is an example of a shoot I did with Valerie Thibaudeau, the very talented and passionate owner of the Ottawa based wedding planning service: Pine74. She is an avid crafter, DIY kind of girl, who bakes, loves animals and gardening. She does a majority of her work right out of her home, consequently this is where she got her business name (house number 74) so that's where we decided to do her shoot. Take a look at her pictures if you need some branding inspiration. ALSO if you want to hire a wedding planner I HIGHLY recommend her! .. and as an added bonus you do get 10% off my services if you book me through her ;)
